Dental Imaging

We provide a comprehensive range of Dental Imaging and Reporting services. Some of these types of scans are called an OPG, Lat Ceph, a Cone Beam CT and Dentascan. Dento-Maxillofacial Reporting or ‘DMFR’ is a specialised area and our DMF Radiologists bring their advanced experience and knowledge to the Central Queensland Community.

Dental x-rays are fast and provide important results to your dentist, orthodontist, or specialist. Diagnosis is very important, as undiagnosed conditions can result in complication or further disease in the affected area. Diagnostic dental imaging can help provide early detection, which increases the chances of successful treatment and recovery. The radiation dose in dental imaging is very low.

An OPG is a special type of x-ray that looks at the lower face, teeth, jaw and sinuses. It gives a wide view x-ray of your lower face and is able to display all the teeth of the upper and lower jaw in a single film.

A Lat Ceph is a side view x-ray of the face which shows the bones and facial contours in your profile. This is often used to plan orthodontic treatment.
This new technique is used to assess the jaws and teeth, with the advantage that provides 3D imaging but with a lower radiation dose compared to the conventional CT.
A CT Dentascan is a specialised type of CT scan that uses special software to make 3D pictures of the jaws and surrounding tissues. It is very useful for assessing the position of teeth and the placement of dental implants.
